Darknight

Projects are draining my life away. But anyhow, there's always the time to look forward to when it's all over and you sit back on your couch. Relaxed as you are, you decide to do something but suddenly, all the wonderful plans you had while doing projects never did form itself into reality. haha. Happens dosen't it? At least it does to me though.

So, on tues night, i went to watch the gala premiere of BATMAN, the dark knight. We squeezed in ben's car again and zoomed down to lido. Oh, did i forget to mention that we got to watch it FOR FREE? His mum works at mediacorp. TA-DAH! So there you have it. The movie was awesome not just because i got it free, but the plot the story the bla bla bla, it was great. The joker was played so well it seems like the show revolved around him instead of batman. They should have called the movie the same thing, just, "Badman, the joker". NO PUN INTENDED. Really. haha.

One thing though, 2 lines were mentioned in the show that i thought was really good.

1) You either die a hero, or live to see youself become a villian.
2) The night is darkest, just before the dawn.

And you thought batman was all brawn no brains. All these superhero shows are getting so difficult for kids to understand now, what more enjoy them. haha. Thank God when i was young, power rangers was just made up of simple english. Or i could have just been oblivious to it all. haha. The 2nd line works so well with projects, especially when last minute work seems to be unavoidable all the time. Speaking of dawn, here's something all of you should see.

READY??

GO!!!

No, you're not seeing double, relax. =)

Photobucket

They totally look alike! In case you didn't know, on the left we have Kat and on the right, the imposter, Mediacorp actress Dawn Yeoh. Originality please! hahaha. No wonder kat's always busy when we have to do projects, FILMING. How to complete on time like that. But wait, what do i have to worry about- After my darkest night, comes kat.

Till then.

How do we know he's there?

Recently, i was talking to a friend. On and on, we somehow pounced upon the issue on our beliefs about how this Earth was made and he mentioned chance. I took my stand that it was God. We didn't go too much into it but as i was on my way home, it got me thinking. I decided not to listen to any music. I started looking around and i saw my reflection on the window of the bus. Could this wonderful work of art be made by chance? hahaha. Ok sorry, that's just wrong. I looked up and my eyes focused in on the white puffy clouds up there in the sky as the sun peeked through. Here and there, a bird would fly past, followed by another or a few others. I pondered for a moment. Why? Why would people ever think this world came about by chance. So many things proved this world was made. I've never been to many places in the world. People who've seen it all sometimes say the breathtaking sight tells you this world was definitely not by chance. But somehow, when i looked out the window of the bus, i know this world was made.

How do we know he's there?
I think the question to be asked should be:

"How do we know if he isn't there?"

Till then.

Sabbath.

Sunday wasn't bad at all, though i woke up with a really bad flu and was afraid to sing during worship lest i distract those around me with my wonderful "zao xiang-ing" sore throat voice. haha. Standard procedures like every Sunday, forced out of bed by parents, leave a bit later than the target of 9am and breakfast at coffeeshop opposite church. A homegrown speaker took the pulpit today, speaking about how to desire God more in our lives. Kind of links to Saturday's message.

Life was proven to be overrated as the life of King Solomon slowly peeked out, mainly the fact that he had 300 wives and 700 concubines, and still wasn't satisfied. I'm like, "What more could a guy ask for in life!!" Ok sorry, that wasn't what i meant. He had everything the world could offer but somehow, still wasn't satisfied. That's when God should come into the story. Anyhow, here are 3 practical steps for us to desire God more in our lives.

1. Recognise first that God is the only one who can satisfy you.
(King Solomon could do that cause he tried everything in life already. haha.)
2. Release your desires to him completely.
3. Realign your priorities to journey together with him.

Well, so after service we had worship fellowship, lunch provided. And as warren would say," Nothing beats a free lunch." haha. Some things never change. Oh, during worhip fellowship, a video was screened and many floodgates were opened, from people's eyes. Check it out yourself, and appreciate your father. This boy, told his father he wanted to join the triathlon, they did. Now he wanted to join iron man, the world's toughest fitness challenge, they did.

Then the plan was dinner tonight at Bernie's, potluck. Went to the supermarket to get the ingredients for Shepherd's pie. Daron came over soon after with his chickens, those which can be eaten and we were off to Bernie's (not the pub). Only Bernie and Rach were there when we reached, followed by Yanjun and Jasmine.

Soon after, or not so soon after, Adriel, Miao and Yn made their grand appearance. It was time to eat supper, woohoo.

God-provided food.
Photobucket

Definitely God-provided, Shepherd's Pie.
Photobucket

After being chased out by the guard from using the bbq pit, we migrated to the poolside table for a drink where some of us drank more than the others.

Being pestered again by the guards, no wait, security officers, we went off to the playground OUTSIDE the condo. Oh, so many jobs these days get prestigious names like the security officer (he told us to call him that once, instead of guard.) Let's see,
Grass cutters: Landscape Designer
Toilet cleaner: Sanitary Agent
Bus Driver: Bus Captain

No wonder so many people these days are unable to find jobs perfectly fitted for them. haha. Back to where i left off. We ran off to the 2 swings and miraculously, they could hold our weights, including mine.

Having fun.

Come on rach, Pull!!!

M.A.D. (Marcus.Adriel.Daron), Daron we need to see more of your face, wait, we see his cheeks.

Smile!

Finishing it all off

A fulfilling night i must say, everyone had fun laughing at each other. haha.
Till then.

Salvation is here, don't lose it.

So, a few days back, i realised that some guys would go to huge extents to impress a girl, and i don't know whether to laugh or feel inferior. haha. So i would like to share some lines i heard that guys actually do use, not realising how stupid they look. In Singapore, if any of it ever worked, it would be only be due to the reason the girl had just finished a fantastic fantasy romance novel/movie. haha. But ya, here they are.

1) Did i just see heaven or did you just smile at me?
2) Do u have a map, i got lost in your eyes.
3) Is your father a terrorist? Cause you're da bomb.
4) You must be tired, always having to run through my mind
5) Could i borrow your handphone? I promised my mum i would call when i found the one.
6) Pardon me, I seem to have lost my phone number, could I borrow yours?
7) Didn't i just see you on miss world last night?
8) Somebody better call God and tell him an angel's missing
9) Your name must be Mickey because your so fine.
10) Are we near the airport or is that just my heart taking off?

(No offense to those who have ever used them before, i truly admire your courage. haha. )

Anyways, my Sat went pretty well, mainly cause no projects were touched. Sleeping in "rox my sox". Come to think about it, i do it almost everyday. School starts at 2pm on Mon, Tues and Wed, 12pm on Thurs. Had Thai express for lunch with mum, sister and aunty anne and off to church. Sometimes its great just to be worshipping with the congregation rather than always playing the drums, which was exactly what happened today. Thanks Sam and Les for the drumsticks, and Liz for the card. =)

The message today was awesome, Terence spoke. I sort of agreed with him when he said that to him, being a good youth speaker isn't all about making the youths laugh every min. And he proved it with what he spoke about, not being his usual self always cracking a joke or 2.

I shall try to make it a point to write about a message after i hear each time so i can better remember it and at the same time, hopefully encourage some.
Some of us proclaim we are saved but when we look deep inside, we somehow can't seem to say that anymore. And today i learned, there are ways to find out or to put it another way, signs to realise that you are saved.
(These signs are supposed to be constant, as salvation is not just a one time issue!)

Namely:
1. Are you still believing that Jesus is the Christ? A "believing" not so simple as believing your mother gave birth to you.
2. Do you have a desire for God's word and want to follow it?
3. Are you sensitive to sin? Meaning do you have a battle raging in you when you face a situation so close to sin.
4. Is your desire for God bigger than the things of this world? You may say you have turned your eyes upon Jesus but is your world growing strangely dim?
5. Do you see a decreasing pattern of sin in your life?
6. Is the Holy Spirit working in your life?

Answer these questions, and you'll know if salvation really is in your life.
Oh, something was mentioned today that really struck me.
Many of us repent and to us, that means turning away from something, period.
But we fail to see the second part which is the most important, running away after turning away.

Salvation is here, don't lose it. Till then.

Friday, July 11, 2008

Thank God its Friday.

Amazing how you look back on the week every fri about how the whole week went by so quickly, but somehow, when you're in it, things happen so slow (especially when projects are in the picture). What all of us would give to have 5 weekends and only 2 weekdays. hahaha.

Recently, i've been quite intrigued at rhetorical questions, about how stupid some can get, but still make sense to a certain extent. Ben lim (Mr whole-life-revolve-around-guitar) seems to be crazy about it and even made some to call his own. And no, i don't blame him, JC would do that to me also if i were in there studying. haha. Sometimes the way people describe the difficulty of jc pass the line of education and into another realm of itself, which actually scares some, including myself occasionally. Maybe i should compile it all," Marcus Lee's true JC stories". An all black cover with all editions having 2 eyes staring straight at you, namely the principal's. haha. Back to the point, here are some of those questions, i especially love 6 and 7.

1) If water is clear, why do clothes get darker when you wet them with water?
2) Imagine you're driving a car so fast till you reach the speed of light, what would happen if you
decided to turn on the headlights?
3) When you shout," I'm behind the tree!" How would you know you're behind?
4) Where does the white go when snow melts?
5) Shampoos/Soaps all come in different colours. But why does the foam always turn out white?
6) If one synchronized swimmer drowns halfway, what do the rest do?
7) Imagine a pair of identical twin sisters, marry a pair of identical twin brothers. Both pairs of
twins have no relation to each other. If both couples give birth to a son, will both sons look the
same?

If some show like brainiac or mythbusters were to engage in qn 7 and solve it, i shall place all resources i can to the experiment and i hope you would too. Tell me if you're an identical twin. It would surely help. hahaahaha.

Anyway, the week's been great except for various clashes, which all happened on the same day. You know, the kind where you don't want to disappoint either group of friends but still have to make a decision. Everything aside, on tues, i went along with my theatre friends. They are a really fun bunch of people, and i would say a good mix also. haha. Some of us even have curfews at 7pm!! But of course, we still love them. =) So, we went out to watch our teacher act in the play "Macbeth". I'm sure many of you have heard of it, the one by Shakespeare. But stop to think for a second.......do you know what it's about? What stupidity, being in the know of such a story for so long but never knowing the story. haha. The only Mac we know would probably be macdonald's.

Well, i decided this play would do me some good. At least i could finally be conversing with literature enthusiasts about something. And i was on my way, macbeth macbeth macbeth. I am going to find out what you are all about! So we got to the place. Ben drove the girls there (flirt. haha.) while the guys took a cab. He also brought his SLR.

Nanyang academy of fine arts. We were gonna watch a fine art.
Notice the clock, 18:52, 8 minutes to 7pm.
Photobucket

We realised we were all there a little too early, so we stuck around for a bit.
Photobucket

Before long, it got hot and we decided to head in to wait instead.
The place actually displays their props openly.
I say good way to showcase and at the same time, maximise limited storage space.
Handsigns at 7.
Photobucket

Just outside the exact venue. Being too early never is fun, we waited around again.
Photobucket

Till we forgot it was past 7! I had to capture this moment.
This is Edah. A rare find these days. Shan't disclose why. haha.
Photobucket

And finally, we went in for the play. None of us had any real tickets cause we got them at student's price. Our ticket was just a paper stating," 9 students" and signed. I wanted a stub! haha. The play wasn't bad at all, though i couldn't control my fatigue at some points. Thank God for that interlude part, i really needed it. No pictures of the play. Copyright. haha. So to the end.

This is our teacher Mr Sonny! He played Macbeth, the main character (of course).
His head was supposedly to be in the black bag nic (right side)was holding.
Photobucket

I dipped my hand into the bag and got myself another head.
Photobucket

And that concludes Macbeth. We went for supper nearby and laughed so loudly every other second, i would hate us if i wasn't part of us. haha. Filled up, we got into Ben's car where he drove us all home. I love him. hahaha. NOT the car but him. It was a blast in that vehicle of his.

As i took the short walk home (car to lift to house), i realised one thing though.
WHAT IS MACBETH ABOUT??

So much for finally being able to find out. haha. till then.

Birthday

Photobucket

Birthdays always seemed to be a happy occasion (of course, you sing HAPPY birthday). Something all of us are unable to wait for but when it really does arrive, you wonder what you were supposed to do with it. Somehow or rather though, they seem to lose their sparkle with each year. I mean, think about it, how do your parents actually celebrate their birthdays? Or do they even. That's when friends come into
the picture,no matter how small the things they do, such as remembering your birthday or how big the things they do such as going to the extent of planning you a party like those on MTV's sweet 16 (lucky asses), it still makes your birthday a tad more meaningful than without. And so, to all who made this birthday a tad more meaningful for me, no goody bag for you, but thank you. (=

That aside, my birthday fell on a Monday. I'm finally 18. That means legal age for booze, driving, M18 movies, smoking, bla bla bla. Ok, no. It means thanking God for yet another year of life and not only appreciating it when things actually happen, because they do.

And so, my morning was greeted with a bunch of messages and my mum walking over when i was half dead wishing me happy birthday. Probably remembered it cause of the labour pains! Haha. Joking. Off to school, where we had project consultation with Daron carrying a box of cake where both of us pretended i wasn't aware of it. He insisted we cut it in class and who was I to say no, it was supposed
to surprise me. Haha. Anyhow, it happened.

This was the cake he got me. Mariposa. He claims the cake is not halal.
(Mariposa is some barbi-e movie or show)
Photobucket

It all happened so fast in class cause the teacher claimed this tutorial was long.
(and they say on your birthday things go the way they're planned)

Fast forward! Daron, Kat, Sam and I were doing project in the lab and Daron kept heading to the toilet.
Which was normal in fact on every project meeting (haha. sorry D. trust.).

SURPRISE!!
Photobucket

I never guessed it, i don't know why though.

Another cake (Halal i think)
Photobucket

Why am i even posting this.
Photobucket

And so, all of us, (Me, Adriel, Daron, Brandon, Bernie, Rach, Yn and Yanjun. jasmine, vmay, kat and sam left, thanks guys.) headed down to inter to meet miao. We had dinner at the place where free bread was given out, aka cartel. We were wondering how cartel actually made a profit always giving out free bread with the rising costs. DHL adriel answered with model answer, bread is their loss leader, which is what many many many people come for (hahahaha) but they result in buying other things.

Cartel. Notice the number of main courses and the bread. Loss leader strategy is not 100% foolproof.
Photobucket

Surprisingly, we did not buy any 50% cheesecakes. Headed down to macs where i had to give a speech like everyone did at their birthdays. I never thought it would be that difficult, I always wondered why people forgot to say the most important stuff about others, then while speaking, i forgot them myself. We didn't take any group photos though, only at the lab. But vmay claims she can't send them, so another
time. Down to the 2 pictures of the day.

Yj with her priceless expression
Photobucket

And of course, miao, never failing to make the scene. Her ice-cream looks funny. With rach at the back,
Magnífico.
Photobucket

I suppose that's all. My birthday ended with a cab ride home with bernie and rach.

I realised one thing, we never did get around to cutting the cake. hahaha.

TIll then,
God loves you!

Virgin-Post.

this blog was finally created out of impulse (or as some would say, "think very long already").

So, i celebrated my birthday with some church people on sunday and because blogging seems
so distant for me, i shall let the pictures tell you more.

gathering at tcc after leader's cell
Photobucket

Leanne! the only one i know with the same birthday as me.
Photobucket
credits to Aunty lydia for taking care of the bill.

Then, it was down to my house, where nothing really eventful happened till it was time to "cut-cake".
Just to make sure people didn't resort to the typical cake splatting session, i got myself this cake.

a marble-roh cake, it smokes when you light the candles.
Photobucket

I was hopeful, that getting a cake without cream would mean i could end the day without anything on my face that would risk a huge breakout. But somehow, i think this phase can never be escaped, especially when you're a guy, turning 18.
There seemed to be a story to the pictures.

First, a picture with the girls. Some mentioned this was the best birthday present i had.
Photobucket

Then, a picture with the guys(the criminals).
Photobucket

Before i knew it, the plate rose beind my back. a whole CHUNK of mayonnaise.
Photobucket

if any of you do not know, mayo is made up of: Oil, egg, oil, milk, oil, fats and i think oil.
(And u wonder why it tastes so good still!)
Photobucket

and that i suppose is the end of the story. I'm writing this in school and all my project mates
are condemning me and laughing at my lack of skill in blogging. but, to all my readers out there (HAHA), i shall perservere for you. hahhaha. Till then.

Stay nice have fun. haha.
